About

Mary Costello Stevens

Mary Costello Stevens I am a therapist who loves helping people who are dealing with difficult times. I provide a safe and confidential place where my clients can share their thoughts and feelings, find support, look at what’s working and what’s not, and learn new strategies to deal with negative emotions and situations.

My desire is to promote self-exploration and empowerment so my clients can let go of negative beliefs, foster deeper relationships, and achieve increased self-esteem and happiness. I consider the self holistically and provide support that’s focused on individual needs as well as improving experiences with family, peers, work or school, and society as a whole. I partner with my clients, utilizing a variety of counseling approaches to help them heal and become more hopeful and resilient.

I started my private practice in 2012 in the Denver Tech Center. I feel honored to support individuals, couples, families, and teens as they cope with difficulties, expand life’s possibilities, and thrive.

M.A., Professional Counseling, Texas State University, 2007
For my M.A., I specialized in marriage and family therapy as well as individual therapy. I completed two internships as part of this program: one at a middle school, where I co-led a Bully Busters group and a group for children from divorced homes, and the other at Austin Recovery and Substance Abuse Treatment Center, where I provided group, individual, and family therapy.

B.A., Psychology, University of North Texas, 2002
While pursuing my degree, I worked as a research assistant, focusing on the emotions of women living at lower incomes and on parent-child interaction.
